Continue weeding.

Maintain hard surfaces, patios and paths, by removing slippery moss and algae with a pressure hose or stiff brush.

Stop pots cracking from frost damage by improving drainage. Raise them on pots feet or bricks and keep clear of plant debris.

Planting and Pruning

Prune fruit trees, once buds start to burst it is too late.

Prune late summer flowering clematis to the lowest pair of healthy buds or were you want the flowering height to commence.

Prune autumn flowering clematis to the lowest pair of healthy buds.

Cut back the seedheads of perennials, biennials and ornamental grasses.

Cut back any perennials that are going to obscure the emerging under planted bulbs.

Lawn

Lawn maintenance commences towards the end of February.

Service the lawnmower.

Only work on the lawn when conditions are dry and not frozen. Work on boards to protect the surface of your lawn.

Redefine lawn edges, by using a guide strip and half moon edger.
